getting better

this story is the best story that i've read. its about a girl working for an ad agency, and who was supposed to get married with her stupid bf until she found out that he had been cheating on her with her office mate. I've learned a lot of things from this book because it could happen in the real world talaga. the funny thing pa is it's so detailed that you could also learn even the simplest situations that could happen to you.

Generations

Generations is probably the saddest story that i've read. she was a perfect daughter but it was nothing to her father.

this story is about a daughter who is being taken for granted by her father. she sacrificed a lot for her father but she never got any appreciation from her dad. she even helped him from suffering in jail by paying for her father's freedom. until one day, she realized everything that her father had done and how he took for granted everything that she had done for him. because of anger, she hit her dad's head. his brother helped her clean herself before they went home. its really sad that some parents take their children for granted while they mean everything to their children. the girl in the story had done too much for her dad but she never got any appreciation. the girl gave things that other daughters couldn't give to their parents and the only exchange that she needed was appreciation but the father wasn't able to show it.

document and the tale of the spinster and peter pan

the document is all about documents that a girl saved from a guys computer. he based the girls feelings on the documents that he has but he was also uncertain about his conclusions. basically the story was all about the document.

the tale of the Spinster and Peter Pan is about a 45 yr.old woman who lived a boring life until one day she went to a bar, maybe for a change and listened to the bands that where playing.she liked the place and she also had a crush on a young band member . so she made it a point that she would go to that bar every thurs and listened to the guys band until one day the guy approached her and talked to her she felt uncomfortable with the guy so instead, she left the bar and never came back.

week 5..:)

Magnificence
I have read this story before way back when i was in high school. the first time i read this nandiri ako. having the thought of a man molesting a kid really freaks me out, maybe because a cousin of mine had already encountered this kind of situation.the second time i read it, i realized that the story isn't only about the kadiri part.its also about being a mother. it shows how a mother could protect her child.

Games
Honestly, i really had a hard time understanding this story. its weird that some women love to play such games knowing that there is a chance that it could hurt their feelings. i do believe that a lot of men these days are "players" the sad thing about it is that some women really try to get back at them instead of not minding them anymore.
example,
after finding out that globe had this tracking thing where in you could track a person using your cellphone. my friend just wanted try it without her boyfriend knowing it.sabi nya huhulihin nya daw(may kasama pang evil laugh)i was thinking that if ever mahuli nya nga it would just make her feel bad(so bat mo pa gagawin dba?!)anyway, last summer, her boyfriend saied that he was going to leyte, tutulong daw cia magharvest sa farm nila. pagalis, after a couple of hours, she used the tracker on him.(5 pesos din yun ah). and guess what, lumabas sa tracker kalibo(which is papuntang boracay). on the same day she went to my house crying.

Mr. Right(hehe..baduy)

the stories "love in the cornhusks" and "the corral" is pretty much alike. its about making choices. people always ask me "if ever, sino mas pipiliin mo?un mahal mo, pero di ka mahal? o un mahal ka, pero?"-this example would give you a hint of what the two stories are all about. btw, my answer to the question is, WALA! these stories also shows how women were treated before.

Love in the Cornhusks-
this story is about a woman who thought that her love of her life named Amado left her already and married a man for the reason that she needs someone to help her take care of her child. unexpected, Amado wrote a letter to her saying that he still loves her but it was too late because she's already married to another man. the thing that struck me the most in this story is when Tinang married another guy for the reason that she needs someone to take care of her child. its very different now a days, a lot of women are raising their child alone today. its just sad to think that women before are not that strong to raise a child on their own. i mean what if they don't find anyone who would be with them? its a good thing now women are much more powerful now compared to before.

The Corral-
this story is about a girl named Pilar. the conflict of the story is about making a choice for herself. Pilar liked gregorio but he doesn't seem to like her. but another man, Mr.Perfecto liked her and he thinks he's the right guy for Pilar. at first Pilar didn't believe Mr. Perfecto, but when she started to realize that gregorio isn't the right guy for him, she started to think that Mr. Perfecto was right all along. another sad story for me, ganun ba kaimportante ang mga lalake dati? because if i was Pilar, i won't force myself to like a person just to have someone take care of me.

Be yourself...

sometimes, when we really want something, we tend to do things that are unusual to us. we tend to act as if we are someone else. the stories that I'm going to blog about has something to do with this kind of situation.

The Bread of Salt is about a simple guy who liked a very rich girl named Aida. he did a lot of things for Aida to notice him . he even joined a band just to get to Aida's house but everything ended she dumped him. but he was able to accept it he realized that he didn't need Aida for him to be happy. this story is very common especially when it comes to us filipinos. parating kailangan may mahirap and may mayaman the funny thing about it is they always end up falling inlove with each other. but this story is different, it is more of a reality(as in un madalas mangyari sa real life).

The Summer Solstice is all about a rich couple who are having a hard time showing her real self to her husband. for me this story is about the typical old stories about couples. Husbands before usually make the house rules and the wives were wala lng. under?:)

mine...

this blog is about 2 stories both written by Francisco Arcellana.

"Divide by Two" is all about love affair and possession. when i read the story, i was really amazed about how the story was written. it used a lot of symbolisms. at first i thought it was just about two neighbors who are fighting over a fence but as the story flows i begin to realize that it was not just about a simple fence anymore. with the help of the dialogs of the character, the real conflict of the story was revealed.

"The Mats" is somehow similar to the first story. when i was reading the story, i kept asking my self, "what's the big deal about the mats?!" but after my report, i realized a lot of points why the mats were so important to them. the theme of the story for me is "accepting death in a family". how would you move on when a love one dies?i think the story emphasized the difference of moving on and forgetting. honestly, i have never felt this kind of situation, ever but by observing other people like my friends, acceptance is the hardest part of death. anyone could move on but i believe that no one could ever forget. just like the father in the story, he has accepted the fact that his 3 children are gone but he never forgot them . he still bought mats for them because he still believes that even if they are gone they are still a part of his family.
